A United Airlines flight from Denver to Des Moines was delayed for 6 hours yesterday after a passenger discovered a tick in economy class. Airline spokeswoman, Robin Urabanski, told the AP that between one and three tick were found on the aircraft (that hard to narrow down?). United decided not to continue flight 1178 with an infested airplane so another was flown in to take its place. The tick-plane was cleaned subsequently returned to service later that day. It is unknown to United how the ticks may have gotten on the plane in the first place. Come on, you've seen some of the people that sit in coach, right?

As a United Airlines frequent flier I'm not surprised. Since they outsourced cabin cleaning, their cabins are disgusting. Do not use the pillows and blankets as they are not changed between flights. There are numerous instances of body fluids that come in contact with seat cushions, blankets , and pillows that are not disinfected or disgarded. They are mearly spritzed with a deodorizer and sold to the next passenger. I now carry hand soap, and a seat cushion and try to touch as little as possible. I am not a germaphobe, I just happen to know a few UAL crew members who have let me know how filthy their aircraft are.
