I once traded some work for a hot-air balloon ride, fantastic experience. As the pilot came in for a landing, I thought about what happens when a moving balloon's basket hits the ground -- balloon keep moving, basket drags & tilts, we get dumped out. I asked, "How do you land this thing," and he tersely replied, "Hit the trees." WHAT? But that's what he did, ran the basket right into the tops of a pine stand, BLAM! Needles and branches everywhere, the basket swung to a vertical stop, and he dropped that thing into a narrow road and had it wrapped up by the time the chasecar arrived. Amazing performance.
